Olivier Alais in Mauritius

I have been working on numerous public programs and I have a deep interest in supporting government transparency and efficiency through the design and implementation of ICT policies. Examples of my recent assignments are supporting the Government of Mauritius to design their Open Source Software policy, improving the Internet penetration in Comoros, designing a solar power plan in Morocco, designing the eGovernment Web Development Strategy for the Government of Liberia, or initiating a low-cost health insurance for migrants in Thailand.

I spent four years in West Africa teaching computer science at the master level, building first rural Internet access in Burkina-Faso, bringing access to knowledge and information through Internet-enabled radio stations in rural Mali, developing adapted digital content for people who had no access to bookstores or libraries, and designing programs to build national research and education networks for governments of Guinea and Benin, as well as post-earthquake Haiti.
